The idler is one of the key components that affects the use effect of the belt conveyor, accounting for about 30%-40% of the weight of the whole machine and 5%-30% of the price of the whole machine. In the belt conveyor, the idler is used to support the conveyor belt and the load, and is the main support device of the conveyor belt.
Idler rollers can be divided into support roller groups, self-aligning idler groups and buffer idler groups according to their purposes. Today, Xiaobian will give you a detailed introduction to these three types of idler groups and the four failure modes of idler wear.

3 types of idler group introduction

Composition: It consists of a stationary bracket and a rotating idler.

Function: used to support the conveyor belt and the materials on it. The part used to carry the branch is called the upper idler group, and the part that supports the unloaded branch is called the lower idler group.

1. Slotted upper idler set

According to the number of rollers installed, the groove-shaped upper idler group can be divided into two idler groups, three idler groups and five idler groups. The more rollers, the larger the groove shape, the smoother the belt bending, and the longer the service life. The three idler sets are the most widely used, and the idler groove angles are 30°, 35° and 45°. The larger the groove angle, the stronger the conveying capacity, which can reduce the deviation and the scattering of materials.

2. Lower idler set

Function: Support and restrain the empty conveyor belt. Structure: Generally, parallel roller sets are used. When the conveyor belt is long, in order to prevent the conveyor belt from deviating, there are also double-roller roller sets with smaller groove angles.

3. Rotary grooved self-aligning idler set

Alignment principle: When the conveyor belt deviates, the belt gives the roller a force F that is consistent with the running direction, its component force Fa makes it rotate axially, and the other component force Fr makes the roller move axially, thereby promoting the conveyor belt to convey Machine centerline movement.
